Are you on the Highway to the ANGER Zone?
"Cue Kenny Loggins"
Do you ever find yourself in a situation where you're revvin' up your engine and being shoved into overdrive?
What do you do when you're pushed further on the edge, feeling hotter the intensity? Do you start merging onto the Highway to the DANGER ZONE?
Contrary to popular opinion, anger is not a bad, wrong or negative emotion. The key is simply expressing it in a healthy way.
Next time you find yourself provoked, someone doesn't say hello to you, you get up to the red line overload, and you never know just what to do, before you get up as high as you can go, press the eject button!
The graphic below shows 3 Anger Zones. If you are unable to assertively communicate your anger,
here are 7 things you can do before heading into the Danger, or worse, Rager Zone:
1. Give yourself a time out by saying, "I need some space to cool off."
2. Take deep breaths while looking at nature.
3. Speak your mind into the notes section on your phone just to get out of your head.
4. Distract yourself: clean something, play with your dog, go for a drive.
5. Take a walk.
6. Exercise.
7. Pray.
There are many different routes to enjoy marriage and the Highway to the Danger Zone isn't one of them but together, we can direct each other one Marriage Minute Monday at a time!
